Fastfoot is a better way to form footings—replacing dimensional lumber with fabric and delivering many advantages:
1. Less Expensive Than Lumber
Fastfoot is significantly less expensive than dimensional lumber to form concrete footings.
2. Stops Rising Damp Through the Footing
Rising damp is the wicking of water through the footing into the concrete wall, leading to evaporation inside the building. This increases moisture, causing dampness and mold. Fastfoot prevents rising damp.
3. Pour with Confidence
Fastfoot is incredibly strong. Hoop tension in residential footings is a maximum of 5 pounds of hoop tension per lineal inch of width. Fastfoot ultimate tensile is 86 pounds, eighteen times stronger than required. With Fastfoot, you never have to worry about blowouts. Ever.
4. Makes Placing & Screeding Concrete Easy
Stiff concrete is difficult to move and screed to the top of the forms.
With Fastfoot you can use a higher slump concrete, without form leakage, and easily move and screed. Reduce your placing time by 50% and go home with energy.
5. Prevents Concrete Damage to Lumber
Fastfoot is a closed form. There is no concrete damage to screed boards and stakes. This means your 2x4s and stakes can be reused indefinitely.
6. Adapts to Uneven Ground, Rock
Special colored width lines allow Fastfoot to be 'let out' or 'pulled in' to accommodate uneven excavations. No need to scab lumber on the sides of your footings or shovel the ground to achieve the footing depth. Fastfoot is perfect over rock.
7. Ideal for Stepped Footings
Fastfoot quickly adapts to the uneven contours of your bank. No need to waste plywood.
8. Forms Deep Footings
Fastfoot is ideal for deep footings and commercial pads. Form footings up to 4' deep. Eliminate expensive and heavy plywood and eliminate expensive recycling of formwork.
9. Prevents Groundwater Contamination
Fastfoot® is a closed form, preventing cement fines from entering the water table.
10. Stronger Concrete
As the picture shows, Fastfoot prevents the footing concrete from being contaminated by mud and water, leading to a stronger concrete. In the summer, Fastfoot® prevents rapid evaporation of moisture in the sides and bottom of the footing. This ensures adequate moisture for proper hydration of the cement particles.
Why the Fabric Bulge Is a Feature, Not a Flaw
Fastfoot's characteristic outward bulge isn't a defect — it's proof the system is working exactly as engineered. When concrete bears down on the fabric, all pressure resolves into pure tensile (hoop) stress along the weave. The fabric never bends, shears, or buckles the way plywood does; it simply pulls tight and holds. The bulge also increases the cross-sectional bearing area compared to a rectangular form of the same width.
