Marshalltown USA
Founded in 1890 by brothers Jesse and Lester Williams, Marshalltown began as a small machine shop in Marshalltown, Iowa, repairing bicycles and automobiles and fulfilling occasional tool orders. Their breakthrough came when a local plasterer asked them to customize a trowel — the brothers delivered a superior version, word spread quickly, and soon they were receiving orders beyond their local region. As demand grew, they moved into a larger facility in 1902 and officially incorporated the “Marshalltown Trowel Company” in 1905.
Over the decades, Marshalltown evolved from a trowel-maker into a global leader in professional construction tools. Its growth was propelled by aggressive sales campaigns in the early 20th century, U.S. Army contracts during the World Wars, and a steady stream of acquisitions and innovations. By the 1930s, it was the largest exclusive masonry tools manufacturer in the world.
Today, Marshalltown boasts nearly 10,000 products, a portfolio of well-known brands, and a firm commitment to innovation, quality, and American manufacturing.
